A Wholesome Week with The MOB: Building, Connecting, and Recharging, by MOB Co-Founder, G

This week has been all about connection, growth, and carving out time for the things that really matter. After the challenges of last week, it felt so good to refocus and embrace what keeps me inspired and energised.

One thing I’ve been especially proud of personally is the commitment to my strength training. Every week, I have my PT session with Suzi Ross, and I always leave feeling not just physically stronger but mentally grounded too. It’s not new, but it’s worth celebrating because it’s time I’ve carved out purely for self-care (which i’m notoriously not very good at doing!). On top of that, the Pure Muscles free strength class for Mob mums was also brilliant, as always It was a community of women lifting each other up (literally!), babies in tow, and that is always really empowering to see.

Strength training has become such a cornerstone of my routine, and I can’t stress enough how important it is, especially for women. Building strength isn’t just about fitness it’s about preserving bone density, maintaining muscle mass, and improving overall wellbeing, particularly as we navigate the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause. It’s self-care in its truest sense, and I love seeing more women making it a priority.

The theme of empowerment carried through the week. I had the privilege of chatting with Elizabeth Willits from Investing in Women Careers on an Instagram Live. We explored how AI can help us prepare for interviews, from practising responses to receiving feedback It’s fascinating how technology can boost our confidence and readiness. If you didn’t catch it live, the recording is on our Instagram page here.

I also attended an event that we hosted with SEND Protect, where we had some incredible conversations about financial security for SEND families. Meeting other SEND parents is always a reminder of how resilient and resourceful our community is, and I left feeling so inspired by the strength and openness in the room.

Later in the week, I visited the Stori E17 pop-up, which featured an awesome mobster collaboration between The Hackney Wardrobe and Ryan and Westover. If you haven’t been, it’s a stunning space, and it was great to celebrate the beauty of pre-loved treasures and creative sustainability. I absolutely love seeing Mobster projects like this come to life and there’s always something so special about bringing people together through fashion and shared values.

The Mobster Hangout at Black Sheep Coffee in Walthamstow was another highlight of the week. This time, we were chatting about AI tools we’re using, what’s working, and where it’s taking us. These conversations are always so insightful and energising. Sharing knowledge within the community has a way of sparking fresh ideas and opening up possibilities.

And then, of course, there was Pitch It Club. Our exclusive online session for MOB WhatsApp members is always such a powerhouse of energy, and this month didn’t disappoint. Martin Barnes gave his usual constructive and inspiring feedback, and seeing everyone refine their pitches is a reminder of the amazing things our community is building.

Despite the busy week, Iv’e stuck with my Couch to 10K training. I have the ‘Get Sh*t Done’ Mobster WhatsApp Community group to thank for that - the accountability is everything! It’s amazing what you can achieve when you know you’ve got a team of mobsters cheering you on.

And finally, to wrap it all up, this weekend I took some much-needed time out with my family. Those moments are always so grounding, and it’s the perfect way to recharge after a full week. A highlight for us was taking my eldest son Freddie, who is autistic to the snow dome in Hemel Hempstead. Seeing him come down the slope was emotional. Proud doesn’t cut it! Thank you to snowBility for providing such an incredible service, supporting young people with additional needs to learn to ski! Absolutely incredible.

This week has been a reminder of how powerful community, connection, and prioritising self-care can be. I’m feeling recharged, motivated, and ready to take on whatever next week has in store!

Have a great week!
