If you find yourself constantly scrabbling for Instagram content ideas and jumping on trends without a bigger plan, the simple truth is that you’re wasting your time. In this blog, Carly will take you through the three essential post types you need to include each week and how they will help you connect with your ideal clients.
Understanding Your Audience
Whether you’re starting a brand-new business account or giving your existing one a refresh, the first thing to think about is who your customers are. Understanding your audience is crucial for designing content that resonates with them. Ask yourself: Are you sharing experiences you have in common? Are you honing in on what they feel passionate about?
Mapping the Customer Journey
Once you know who your customers are, you can map out their buying journey. First, you need to attract them to your account, then gently encourage them to buy, and finally support them in becoming loyal fans who will purchase from you multiple times and spread the word about your business.
The Three Essential Post Types
1. To reach those at the start of their journey, you need to create Attraction Posts—designed to get more eyes on your content and connect with viewers in a relatable way. Ideally, these posts should be so engaging that your potential customers share them with their friends.
2. Incorporate Sales Posts. It’s crucial to let your audience know what you’re offering! While it may feel uncomfortable to sell, these posts often work behind the scenes. Many times, I’ve booked 1-to-1s while out shopping because I met people ready to buy after seeing my sales post on Instagram
3. And finally, don’t forget about Loyalty Posts. People buy from people, and the more they know about you, the more they’ll want to choose you over competitors. It’s perfectly fine not to attract everyone, so focus on building genuine connections.
Webinar Insights
In July, I partnered with The MOB (Mums Who Build) to deliver an online webinar designed for mobster mum small business owners. In 'GET YOUR INSTAGRAM STRATEGY SORTED', we explored examples of attraction, sales, and loyalty posts, along with tips for effectively planning and tracking your content. I also provided a reminder of Instagram’s post formats to give your posts the best chance of success.
