Feeling Lost in Your Style? 3 Tips for Mums to Regain Your Confidence by Personal stylist and mobster, Vic binns

Hi, I’m Vic, a proud mobster and London-based personal stylist and mum of two. As a busy mum, I know firsthand how easy it is to lose confidence in your style while juggling family life. We all deserve to feel incredible in every outfit, yet so many mums settle for wardrobes that make us feel ‘just okay.’ We often think we need to buy a whole new wardrobe to feel better, but the real magic lies in something we already own: our current wardrobe.
My style-led approach is dedicated to helping mums like you rediscover your style by unlocking the potential of what’s already in your closet. If you’re feeling a bit lost in your style, these three tips will help you regain your confidence without the overwhelm of a total wardrobe overhaul.

1. Know Your Style Blockers

As mums, our lives change constantly, and sometimes our wardrobe doesn’t keep up. Whether it’s returning to work after maternity leave, transitioning to working from home, or simply adjusting to life with young children, it’s easy for our style to get lost in the shuffle. When our wardrobes no longer fit our daily needs, it’s no wonder we feel disconnected from our clothes.
Take a moment to reflect on how you’re feeling about your wardrobe right now. Are you struggling to get dressed each day because your clothes no longer suit your lifestyle as a mum? Identifying your style blockers—whether that’s a lack of practical pieces or outfits that no longer feel like ‘you’—is the first step to regaining your style confidence.

2. Keep an Outfit Diary

Mums are pros at multitasking, but we often put ourselves last when it comes to style. A simple and effective way to reconnect with your wardrobe is by keeping an outfit diary. Snap a photo of your outfit each day, no matter how casual or rushed, and take note of how it made you feel. Were you comfortable? Did you feel put-together? What were your reasons for choosing that outfit?
At the end of the week, review your notes and look for patterns. Are you gravitating towards the same items because they’re easy or comfy? Are certain pieces going unworn? This exercise will help you identify what’s working and what’s not, allowing you to make better style decisions that fit your mum lifestyle.

3. Pause on New Purchases

It’s tempting to believe that buying new clothes will fix your style slump, but for many mums, shopping can actually create more frustration. We’ve all heard that a bit of ‘retail therapy’ will make us feel better, but impulse buys often lead to a wardrobe full of items that don’t work together. This can make getting dressed each morning even more overwhelming, especially with little ones to care for.Instead, put a pause on purchases and focus on what’s already in your wardrobe.
